About the event

Addicted to ocean adventures, Sara Kulins moved from New York to New Zealand in 2015. Since arriving here she has spent as much time as possible in, on or beside the ocean. Sara has logged hundreds of dives at sites throughout the Hauraki Gulf, many of these while contributing to kelp forest research led by the University of Auckland.

Passionate about marine science, Sara completed her master's thesis investigating the ecological effects of Long Bay Okura marine reserve in 2022. This study included habitat mapping and surveys of both reef fish and kina. She's seen firsthand the devastation of ecosystems out of balance but has also seen the incredible benefits of marine protection and the amazing ability of our ocean ecosystem to recover when given a chance.

Sara enjoys combining her passion for watersports, science, adventures and photography by sharing stories on her website I Speak for the Sea –…
