How to use your T-Rex trap
-
Place the tunnel: Place the tunnel where you've seen signs of rat activity, lengthways along fences or walls, or in compost bins or areas of dense undergrowth. Ensure the tunnel is completely stable.
-
Remove the lure cup: Locate the lure cup on the underside of the T-Rex trap. Twist it to the left to unlock and pull it out.
-
Fill the cup: Fill the lure cup with a small amount of your preferred bait. Options include peanut butter, mayonnaise, choc spread, cheese, and nuts. Do not use toxins.
-
Replace the lure cup: Twist the bait cup to the right to lock it back in place.
-
Set the trap: Squeeze the back end of the trap until you hear a click. This will hold the trap jaws open.
-
Position the trap: Holding the back of the trap, slide the set trap, bait-end first, into your wooden tunnel box. Position the trap close to the back of the trap box to prevent harm to non-target species.
-
Replace the mesh on the service entrance
-
Check Regularly: Check your traps frequently, and report catches to RTH via the form (link)
Important Notes:
-
Safety: Always wear gloves when handling traps and catches to avoid transferring your scent and to protect yourself from potential diseases.
-
Tunnel: Ensure the tunnel box is properly secured before leaving it, keep both ends clear of vegetation, and ensure the mesh ends are filed smooth at the entrance.
